Cooling Down During A Burnout
Ever feel like your to-do list is the boss and you're the intern? Welcome to the burnout club.
Burnout is a state of complete mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. You feel helpless, unable to focus on work, demotivated and cynical. But burnout doesn’t just manifest itself in a busy corporate office but also other phases of life.
One experiences burnout at home due to a work overload or a repetitive routine that’s free from novelty. This isn’t as well known as corporate burnout but the effects can be just as severe. Being unable to complete everyday tasks makes you feel even more demotivated & this can adversely affect your health.
How do you combat this?
Establish ‘me time’
Take time out of your day to do things that make you happy. These things don’t have to be productive, or a learning experience. Indulging in long-forgotten hobbies and reconnecting with your happier self might just be the push you need.
Movement is essential to wake up your body and add some serotonin to your day. It doesn’t have to be strenuous exercise. It can be simple stretches you do as soon as you wake up, at your workplace or intense cardio to take your mind off things.
Aligning your day and setting aside a checklist will help you ensure that you don’t under-deliver or over-deliver. You are in control of your time and you are more likely to breeze through the day without worrying about effective use of time and self-doubt.
Sleep is for the smartest
Getting sufficient sleep (6 to 8 hours) ensures that your mind is well-rested and can comprehend and respond to everything that the day throws at you. You will also feel less lethargic if you catch some ZZZs at appropriate times.
What’s on your plate?
Not your task list. But your diet. Include foods that are rich in fibre like fruits and vegetables, leafy vegetables, healthy whole foods, soups and dark chocolate to improve your overall health. You can also time out to detox and give your gut a break. Reset’s detox candies help with liver detoxification, blood purification and destressing. Made with natural ingredients, it is a small bite of goodness that’s free from long wellness routines.
